Earlier this year we wrote about why the platform you revise on matters. Urology training doesn't always leave much desk time, so revision has to fit into the gaps: the commute, a calm spell on call, ten minutes between cases.
The website has always been designed to work well on a phone, but a website needs a connection — and theatres, hospital basements and trains aren't known for their signal. The app is built for those gaps. Open it, answer a few questions, put it away, and your progress is waiting for you on every other device.
The app uses the same account as the website, so everything carries across: your answers, statistics, flagged questions and any mock you have in progress. Answer ten questions on the train and they're in your stats by the time you sit down at a laptop.
Exam Insights comes with you too. Your streak and today's question count are on the home screen, and the Daily Recap lists every question you answered each day, with its explanation — handy for looking back over the day's questions on the way home.
The app isn't a cut-down version of Urobank. You get the full question bank and the features you already know:
This is the feature we're most pleased with. Choose the topics, difficulty and question status you want, and download a set of questions to your phone or tablet. You can keep up to 240 questions on your device at any time, spread across as many sets as you like.
With no connection, practice one set or all of them together. Answers are marked straight away, with the explanation, and uploaded to your stats the next time you're online.
Download a topic set on Wi-Fi before a train journey or a long day in theatre, and you've got revision ready whenever there's a spare five minutes. Downloaded questions are stored on your device, and you can remove a set — or clear them all — from the Offline Library.
The app is free to download and included in your Urobank subscription, so there's nothing extra to pay. New to Urobank? Choose a plan on the website, then sign in on the app.
It runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 15 or later, and on Android phones and tablets with Android 7.0 or later.
We've tested it extensively, but this is the first iteration of the app, and like the rest of Urobank it will keep improving based on what you tell us.
If something doesn't work the way you'd expect, or there's a feature you'd like to see, drop us a line at support@urobank.co.uk. And if you're finding it useful, a rating on the App Store or Google Play helps other trainees find us.
Good luck with the revision.
