Most candidates use more than one bank. That makes the comparison question the most useful one we ask, and the answers have been consistent.
"Clearly better. I used three question banks and Urobank easily surpassed the other two. Although the other question banks had more questions, their quality was poorer — not only the questions but also the explanation of the answers."
"Your question patterns, images and slides were the closest to the exams compared to the other question banks. You are the first recommendation I give to aspiring examinees."
"Along with the Oxford Handbook and EAU guidelines, this stood as one of the primary resources. In fact the questions helped immensely in tackling tricky MCQs. The explanations were up to date with the latest EAU guidelines, and the links to EAU below each explanation were invaluable. Urobank is unparalleled compared to other online question banks, which are out of date."
"Less use of AI, responds personally to feedback, feels less like talking to a chatbot."
"More similar to the exam."
"Although I did not pass, I thought it was the closest to the actual exam."
"Urobank was my favourite online resource for the FRCS exams."
Two themes run through almost every comparison we receive. The first is that volume is not quality — candidates who used larger banks consistently reported that the extra questions came at the cost of the explanations attached to them. The second is currency. Guidelines move, and a bank that was accurate three years ago is now quietly teaching the wrong answer to people who have no way of knowing it.
Candidates commented on the quality of questions, explanations and ease of use of the platform.
"The quality of the explanations. The questions required thinking rather than just recall, and the answers reflected that, so you were in little doubt on why you got the answer right or wrong."
"Short but detailed explanations of why an answer is right compared to the others."
"Very good answers and references to papers."
"Close to the scenarios in the real exam."
"Mock tests were invaluable near the end."
"The use of images, histology, urine microscopy, and the detailed answers given with key topic information in a separate box."
"Excellent for exam practice. Very good and exam-oriented questions, and I also liked the web interface — very easy to navigate. Very quick to reply if there were any queries or confusion."
"Very user-friendly and easy to navigate. Not overcomplicating a platform unnecessarily."
"The interface was user friendly both on my laptop and mobile device."
"The responsiveness of the team to correct any queries was impressive."
The most valuable half of every feedback form is the part where candidates tell us what to fix. Some we've already acted on — several candidates asked for more control over how they revisit questions they have already answered. As a result we've made a couple of changes:
Candidates also tell us that the questions in the exam are evolving in style. Alongside keeping the content up to date, we work to ensure the style and level of the questions we provide stay close to those in the actual exam — which is why new questions are written and released ahead of each sitting rather than in a single batch.
Almost every candidate who has completed our feedback form said they would recommend Urobank to a colleague preparing for Part 1 — the large majority of them "definitely."
"Just wanted to say a massive thanks to the whole Urobank team. Although it wasn't the only resource I used, it undoubtedly helped me become a better urologist."
All feedback quoted with the explicit permission of the candidates concerned. Responses from candidates who asked not to be quoted have been excluded.
